African American History Trail

On February 24, 2023, we were proud to announce our new trail that detailed African American history of the area. We plan to have the trail talk about the lives and accomplishes of the community, and the importance of the Iron Hill School #112C. What made the event special was the presence of Iron Hill School Alumni.

Vandalism: The Damage To Our New Project

Over the weekend of March 11 & 12, 2023, we experienced a major set back to our new trail. Someone ripped down signs, destroyed posts, and broke apart all of the hard work that was put into the project. This violation really hit our organization hard, and has caused us to try and pick up the pieces to start over again, but with security aides in place.

This is the news coverage on Channel 10 News of the vandalism.

This is where we need your help. Donations are greatly appreciated at this time. We need new sign posts, new informational signs, and new security supplies to replace, improve, and enhance the safety on our trails and the Iron Hill School #112C, which is celebrating it’s 100th year in 2023. This is a major milestone for the community that has grown to love and cherish schoolhouse’s presence. 100% of the donations will be used for clean up, replacement supplies, and security measures. As our needs change, we will update this page.

If you know anything about the vandalism to our property, please call the non-emergency police number for the state of Delaware directly at 302-573-2800.
